Brent gets inspired at 2012 open weekend

The ‘Inspiring Brent Cultural Countdown’ event in partnership with Akademi South Asian Dance UK took place on Saturday 24 July at Willesden Green Library Centre and featured a range of free exciting activities including rap poetry workshops, Bollywood streetdance, a 1948 Olympic trail, dance mats, speed stacking and other mini challenges inspired by the London 2012 Games.

The event culminated with live performance drumming by Dhoom Foundation, a Bollywood dance-off and an RnB/Rap performance competition. Local community radio station Bang 103.6 FM broadcasted live from the event where they conducted interviews with the general public as well as the artists.

The ‘Inspiring Brent Cultural Countdown’ event was part of the Inspiring Brent’s Challenge Weekend our contribution to the London 2012 Open Weekend, celebrating two years to go to the start of the London 2012 Games.

London 2012 Open Weekend, supported by BP, is the annual countdown celebration to the opening of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. The theme of this year’s Open Weekend was challenge; encouraging everyone to try something new or develop a skill.
