The Neighbourhood Working team has been specifically set up by Brent Council to help people who live and work in Brent to work alongside their councillors to make a positive difference to your area and community.
There are 21 nominated local neighbourhood areas and the Neighbourhood team is there to help identify issues and find innovative ways to improve local neighbourhoods. There is a budget of £20,000 for each ward area to spend which can be used for projects that are not normally funded through other public departments.
We want to hear from you - got any suggestions?
Neighbourhood Working covers anything that may be an issue in your area. If it is an issue which affects the community as a whole or part of the community then the Neighbourhood Working Team wants to hear about it. To give us an idea of the sort of thing that you may like to see happening in your neighbourhood, please fill out our suggestion e-form to let us know about your issues and local concerns.
Projects funded so far
There have been new youth services including homework clubs, youth cafes and sports equipment. Money has been given to improve safety and security including alley-gating projects, personal alarms, improved lighting and the setting up of neighbourhood watch schemes.
Graffiti hotspots have been targeted through additional cleaning and projects such as murals to channel artistic enthusiasm into less destructive art forms. Older people are benefiting too through exercise classes and support for local groups and some of our parks are getting new play equipment, trees, benches and pathways that people said they wanted.
Most recent initiatives include a mural in Dudden Hill to eco-friendly bags being handed out by Louis Theroux in Kensal Green.
For more information
Each neighbourhood also has a neighbourhood coordinator who organises events and works with councillors to identify area priorities. If you would like to speak to someone for more information, firstly find your ward area and then contact your relevant Neighbourhood Working Coordinator.
