The Brent Inspires Award is a virtual competition aimed at organisations providing for 0-19 year olds in educational, youth and voluntary settings. It aims to use the power of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to inspire children and young people across Brent to participate and excel in a range of activities which promote the values of the Olympic Movement, which are: excellence, friendship, respect, courage, determination, inspiration and equality.
Brent Inspires is designed to encourage, capture and celebrate young peoples’ involvement in the lead up to the 2012 Games and has been recognised by the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG) as a project that is genuinely inspired by the 2012 Games and has been awarded the London 2012 Inspire Mark.
Who can participate?
Any organisation within Brent that works with young people can register for the competition, Any activity - from a school assembly to a sports tournament - could be worthy of an award, as long as it meets the criteria and promotes the values of the Olympic and Paralympic movement.
At the end of the year there will be a celebration of achievement event and the top three in each category will receive the Brent Inspires Award. There will also be awards for innovation.
